School Award 2026
Role models
Introduce a person of your choice who stood up for a living democracy in Germany after 1918. democracy. You are free to choose the person and the topic, that you associate with her.
Who can take part?
Pupils in all types of schools in Bonn and the Rhein-Sieg district - alone, in groups or with the school class or course and the respective teachers.
What can I apply for?
The form of presentation is up to you. All formats are permitted: joint campaigns and activities, exhibitions, films, journalistic contributions, podcasts, newspapers, social media projects, works of art, children's and youth parliaments, specialist work, literary and musical projects, plays and game development.
What is there to win?
Cash prizes totaling 3,000 euros and a group trip to the state parliament in Düsseldorf.
Submit your contribution
You will find in April 2026, after the Easter vacations, on the page www.demokratiepreis-bonn.de a form that you will need to submit your entry. The deadline for all submissions is June 30, 2026.
Award ceremony
The presentation and award ceremony will take place at the beginning of July 2026. A jury consisting of representatives of the organizer, the Haus der Geschichte and the City of Bonn will award the prizes.

The head of the competition is Jürgen Nimptsch, the former principal of the Integrated Comprehensive School Bonn-Beuel and Lord Mayor of the City of Bonn (2009 - 2015). He will also be happy to come to your school for further information by arrangement.
