The federal city of Bonn is the starting point of the Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany. It is an example of a functioning democracy. Since the relocation of the Federal Government to Berlin, Bonn has been linked in a special way to the idea of international cooperation as a peace-building moment and, as the German city of the United Nations with the headquarters of 26 UN organizations, is a place of international dialogue on future issues. The Federal City of Bonn and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia are closely associated with the association through cooperation agreements and help shape the life of the association.
